It’s been a few days now since I’ve completed Project SCARLETT and after hours of benchmarking and testing I noticed the thermals weren’t so great. The GPU hit 80C after only a few minutes of playing most games and on idle, CPU temps were about 53-58C.
To compare, my main Ryzen buildstays at a cool 29-33C on idle with GPU temps never hitting over 70C.
This was due to the way I had the fans set up. Instead of pulling air from the bottom and pushing it out the top of the case, I had it backwards. This resulted in temps being higher than normal.
The ideal setup when it comes to fans is to face them in a way to where it moves air towards the rear and top. With this particular case however, no air gets exhausted to the rear. Instead, it gets pushed out the top.
I’m completely to blame for this, since I prioritized aesthetics over performance and preferred the ugly back of the fans from being visible.
With the fans now properly in their correct orientation, I’m now getting CPU idle temps of 37-39C and the monitoring software has stopped spamming me with notifications telling me my GPU has reached 80C.
